Port Environment

Located on the critical water way of the Pacific Rim shipping center, Yangpu Port is an important marine gateway for the industrial corridor of the northwestern Hainan.

Traffic Conditions

Yangpu Port has convenient marine and land transportation. The 28 km-long first-class highway for port transportation is connected to the Hainan Island Rim Expressway West Line, and Yangpu Port is 137km away from Haikou and 124km away from Basuo Port.

Taking the water passage, it is 87 nautical miles to the Haikou Port, 54 nautical miles to Basuo Port, 174 nautical miles to Sanya Port, 173 nautical miles to Zhanjiang Port, 450 nautical miles to Guangzhou Port, 389 nautical miles to Hong Kong, 151 nautical miles to Haiphong Port in Vietnam, 345 nautical miles to Macao, 1,693 nautical miles to Osaka in Japan, and 1,829 nautical miles to Singapore.

Now it is linked to major domestic ports and more than 20 countries and regions. At present, it has opened container shipping routes, such as Yangpu Port to Qinzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Tianjin, Shanghai, Haiphong and Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam, Bangkok and Laem Chabang in Thailand, and Hong Kong.

Preferential Policies

Berth 3#, 4#and 5#of Yangpu Port, storage yards, and the rear land areas are within the bonded port area of Yangpu and enjoy the preferential policies for bonded port areas: overseas cargos into this area are in bonded status; cargos shipped overseas from this area are duty-free; tariffs and other taxes on equipment for production and infrastructure construction supplies which enter this area will be collected by the custom; domestic cargos into this area enjoy tax rebate; cargo flows within this area is free from value-added tax and consumption tax, and enterprises in this area are exempt from making deposits to be recorded in the custom’s accounting journal.

Natural Conditions

Tide: The port experiences diurnal tide, only one high and low tide each day, with mean sea level at 1.91m. The highest tide is 4.06m with average high tide of 2.76m. The lowest tide is 0.24m with average low tide of 1.1m. The mean tidal range is 1.81m, with the maximum tidal range of 3.6m. The mean flood tidal duration is 12.2hrs and the mean ebb tidal duration is 9.6hrs.

Tidal currents: In the Yangpu Bay, the tidal current is a reversing current, the flow direction of flood tide and ebb tide is mostly consistent with the trend of the deep groove, the ebb velocity is greater than the flood velocity, the flow velocity on the surface is greater than that at the bottom, and the measured maximum velocity is 0.98m/s, appearing at the narrowest part of the deep groove.

Fog condition: Foggy days are usually from December to next April, especially in March. The number of foggy days with horizontal visibility less than 1,000 m are 16 days on average throughout the years, 21 days as the most and 9 days as the least. The fog duration is usually 2 hours but can be up to 7 hours.

Temperatures: It features tropical monsoon climate with an annual average temperature of 24.7°C. The highest average temperature of 29.3°C is in July. The lowest average temperature of 18.9°C is in January.

Precipitation: The annual average precipitation reaches 1,113.8mm. The rainy season starts in May and ends in October. The dry season lasts from November to April. The annual average of rainy days is 100.8 days.
